The Association of Nigerian Women Business Network (ANWBN) has officially launched an initiative aimed at advancing financial independence and fostering sustainable development for women across Nigeria. The program, titled Women Economic Empowerment for Widows, Women Entrepreneurs, and Vulnerable Women (WEE 4 3WS), seeks to create a more inclusive economic landscape for women, particularly widows and those in vulnerable situations.
A Transformative Vision for Women
Speaking at the launch event held at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry Hall in Alausa, Ikeja, ANWBN National Coordinator Otunba Gbemisola Oduntan described the program as a pivotal step toward bridging economic disparities and empowering women as key contributors to Nigeria’s development.
“This initiative is designed to position women as leaders, innovators, and collaborators in creating a more inclusive and prosperous future,” Oduntan explained.
The program focuses on equipping women with essential tools such as market access, financial resources, and training to ensure their success. Oduntan also encouraged participants to adopt a mindset of self-reliance and to actively seek opportunities for growth instead of relying solely on external support. She called on financial institutions to collaborate by offering accessible loans and financial assistance to women-led businesses with viable prospects.
Inspiring Women to Overcome Challenges
Dr. Funke Bolujoko, Founder of Master Tea, delivered a virtual keynote address that emphasized the importance of resilience and the ability to learn from setbacks. Drawing from the entrepreneurial journey of Chief Rasak Akanni Okoya, she highlighted how determination and strategic alliances can lead to remarkable success.
“Failure should be seen as an opportunity to learn and improve,” Dr. Bolujoko remarked. “Women should embrace ethical practices, forge strategic partnerships, and persist in their entrepreneurial goals.”
Strategies for Sustainable Growth
During a panel discussion on “Sustainable Growth for Women-led Businesses,” legal expert and entrepreneur Mrs. Toki Mabogunje shared practical advice for participants. She stressed the importance of maintaining excellence in their businesses, enhancing financial literacy, and seeking professional guidance when necessary.
“Women must take proactive steps to acquire knowledge, invest in entrepreneurship training, and cultivate the skills needed for sustainable success,” Mabogunje advised.
The panel also underscored the need for women to embrace collaboration and innovation, as well as to leverage available resources and networks to expand their businesses.
A Commitment to Economic Transformation
Through the WEE 4 3WS program, ANWBN aims to empower women and drive economic growth in Nigeria. The initiative aligns with the organization’s broader mission of fostering economic transformation and supporting women to thrive as entrepreneurs.
By providing resources, mentorship, and opportunities for market access, ANWBN continues to solidify its role as a driving force for women’s empowerment in Nigeria. The program serves as a beacon of hope for widows, women entrepreneurs, and those facing economic challenges, offering them a pathway to financial independence and long-term success.
The launch of WEE 4 3WS highlights ANWBN’s unwavering dedication to addressing gender disparities in Nigeria and equipping women with the tools they need to achieve sustainable growth in their ventures.
